Optimised Driving Behaviour of Commercial Vehicles

Growing automation of the powertrain of commercial vehicles — and thus also of the transmission systems — plays an increasingly significant role in enhancing efficiency. However, due consideration also has to be given to other important aspects besides enhancing efficiency, including good calibration of the drivability characteristics, which in turn has an impact on efficiency. This results in a multi-criteria optimisation task which the calibration engineer cannot solve with conventional methods in view of the many boundary conditions and constraints. IAV has developed its own optimisation algorithms and tools for calibration of commercial vehicle transmissions for on and off-road to take account of growing system complexity in the calibration and development processes.
