Abstract
Today, the world is looking for materials that can be effectively used in construction without affecting environmental sustainability. The use of agro-industrial wastes as a constructional material will support in either way of waste handling and environmental conservation. This paper focuses on the behavior of high-strength concrete along with the durability study with sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA) as an alternate pozzolanic material. SCBA was partially added as 10, 20 and 30% proportions with cementitious material and compared with a control mix with 100% cementitious material. Mechanical properties of concrete, such as workability, compression strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength, were obtained for the three mixes and compared with the control mix that shows SCBA replacement can be done partially to obtain better results. The durability properties, such as water absorption, carbonation and corrosion resistance, were obtained for the mixes that show adequate support to the replacement. Partial replacement of SCBA also supports environmental protection.
