Abstract

In recent days, the Concrete-Filled Steel Tube [CFST] is acquiring more popular in the construction industry and is being utilized in construction of buildings, bridges, electric towers, etc. The CFST is a structural member that possesses good performance, due to the confinement effect of the concrete in the steel tube. The CFST are designed in such a way to resist the axial load only by concrete core and additionally economized by the utilization of steel tube. According to research, high temperatures influence the durability of the structure and cause significant damage. Such an effect might cause permanent damage to the structure, which might prompt damages to materials and human lives. The investigation of the behavior of CFST under high or elevated temperature is primarily important. The utilization of the high-strength steel tube and special type of concrete was used to improve the fire resistance of the hollow and concrete-filled steel tube sections. This review paper reports the behavior of light gauge steel hollow and concrete infilled structural member under elevated temperature.
