Negli ultimi anni il “dialogo” endocrino tra testicolo e osso si è intrecciato di nuovi attori a formare un cross-talk particolarmente interessante, anche per le possibili applicazioni diagnostiche e di management clinico dei pazienti con ipogonadismo e/o osteoporosi. La cellula di Leydig partecipa al metabolismo osseo attraverso la produzione di testosterone e INSL3 e la 25-idrossilazione della vitamina D. L’osteocalcina prodotta dagli osteoblasti stimola la produzione del testosterone e partecipa alla regolazione del metabolismo aumentando la produzione e la sensibilità insulinica.
