La Sindrome dell’ovaio policistico nell’adolescente: quando e come diagnosticare, quando e come trattare

Sommario

La sindrome dell’ovaio policistico (PCOS) rappresenta la più comune patologia endocrina femminile, responsabile di infertilità, iperandrogenismo e sindrome metabolica. Manifestazioni tipiche includono oligo-amenorrea, irsutismo, acne e obesità e riscontro ecografico di policistosi ovarica a insorgenza in età puberale. La natura eterogenea e l’eziopatogenesi complessa pongono importanti difficoltà diagnostiche e controversie terapeutiche, specie nell’adolescente, che verranno prese in esame nel seguente articolo.
