Footnote

This work was inspired by an unfortunate woman I came across during my time as a medical student on my psychiatry rotation. The woman was a victim of sex trafficking. Fiction could have imagined no worse fate for this woman than the reality of her situation. She was stripped of fertility and sold for petty amusement. In these lines, I hope to make known her fateful plight as it serves to me a constant reminder of our professional duty to remain cognizant of all our patients’ possible personal perils.
