Dear CPM Readers,

As we enter the fifth year of the Journal of Computational Particle Mechanics (CPM), we would like to update readership on the developments regarding the journal. Particle-based mechanics and related numerical methods are developing rapidly. Their applications extend across the natural sciences, engineering, medicine and many other fields. The goal is to enhance communication among researchers in the applied sciences who use “particles” in one form or another in their research and development. In the beginning of this year the journal has been included in SCOPUS, which is a major step in the evolution of the journal and is one indicator of the success and demand for CPM. In December, Computational Particle Mechanics was selected for additional Impact Factor designations. The journal has been included in Current Contents, Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) categories. Another step towards providing a broad venue for the scientific output of researchers was the introduction of CPM-Rapids in October. CPM-Rapids is designed to provide a highly visible venue for short, high-quality peer reviewed papers across the full range of topics covered by the journal.

In closing, we wish to thank all authors for choosing CPM for publishing their scientific work and hope that CPM-Rapids will further enhance scientific dissemination. Thanks also to the Editorial Board for their involvement in the organization of Special Issues of CPM and for their efforts in the peer review process. Our final thanks go to Springer and the journal production team for their exceptional professional work in the publication of CPM.

Best regards,

The CPM Editors, Peter Wriggers, Tarek I. Zohdi and Eugenio Oñate
