EU Regulators & Healthcare Payers Meet to Explore Collaboration

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and European Union (EU) healthcare payers have met for the first time to explore opportunities for collaboration to help improve affordable and timely access for patients to new treatments.

EU healthcare payers were represented by attendees from the Association Internationale de la Mutualité, the European Social Insurance Platform, the Medicine Evaluation Committee and the Mechanism of Coordinated Access to Orphan Medicinal Products (MoCA). The meeting was intended to be complementary to existing cooperation between the EMA and health technology assessment bodies, and represented a chance for the EMA and healthcare payers to explore synergies, encourage mutual understanding and foster cooperation with the aim of improving sustainable access to medicines for EU citizens.
