  1. The OptiBIRTH intervention consisted of improved organisation of maternal health service delivery and enhanced women-centred care.

  2. Cost-effectiveness thresholds were country-specific: €45 000/QALY for Ireland (set historically) while the gross domestic product per capita was used for Germany (€37 719/QALY) and Italy (€27 219/QALY).
