Abstract
Purpose of Review
Surgical outcomes data related to temporal bone malignancy can be challenging to interpret and apply to a specific patient population due to the overall rarity of the disease and the heterogeneity of disease types often studied in aggregate in this anatomic region. Large institutional series are commonly composed of a diverse patient cohort, with numerous pathologic entities studied in aggregate despite known differences in biologic behavior.
Recent Findings
Our current aim is to provide a review of recent literature on surgical resection of primary, untreated squamous cell carcinoma of the temporal bone and examine associated outcomes.
Summary
A general overview of temporal bone carcinoma and illustrated, contemporary update of surgical techniques is additionally provided.
