Abstract

This paper proposes a solution for reducing handoff latency due to security procedures. This solution is in the spirit of current research aiming to set the standard for future generation wireless services with a focus on the IEEE 802.16m standard. The aim of this paper is to present a solution which incorporates a ticket-based mechanism and a modified key derivation algorithm to reduce the problem of handoff latency.
