Abstract
The feasibility of remediation of soil contaminated with different levels of Cr (0, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 mg/kg soil) has been evaluated with three different varieties (Prajwal, shringar and mexican single) of tubersoe (Polianthes tuberosa). Among the three varieties, Prajwal was found to be more tolerant than shringar and mexican single. The applied Cr decreased the photosynthesis rate and as a result the total dry matter production. Beyond 25 ppm, application of Cr suppressed the flowering in all the three varieties. The highest concentration of Cr was found in root followed by shoot and least amount was found in flower.
