Vehicle data mangement a standardized access as the basis of new business models

If vehicle data have a personal reference, they may only be read out by the manufacturer with the consent of the person concerned and passed on to third parties. In order to meet this complex challenge, a task force consisting of OEMs (Audi, BMW, Daimler, Ford, MAN, Opel, Volkswagen) as well as Bosch, Continental, Delphi and ZF was established as part of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) in order to provide a satisfactory solution for all parties. The result is the Nevada concept — Neutral extended vehicle for advanced data access. The authors of Audi, BMW and Continental describe the progress.

Initial situation

The role and use of the vehicle is undergoing a radical change.
