Modular and Scalable Battery Systems for Electrified Commercial Vehicles

In electrically powered commercial vehicles, the battery is the biggest weight and cost factor. AVL has developed a battery system that keeps complexity, development time and time to market as well as the costs low.

Potential for Electric Commercial Vehicles

The need for electrically powered trucks and buses is expected to increase significantly in all major markets in the next years. However, the rising demand for zero-emissions transport, especially in urban areas, brings up challenges already during the development of a modern electrified powertrain. Targets such as the system performance, weight, durability and safety are to be balanced against the necessary reduction of the product costs. As a major part of the electrified powertrain the high voltage battery system significantly impacts all those targets.
