Gastroösophagealer Reflux als Auslöser von Husten und Asthma

Gastroösophagealer Reflux (GERD) und Asthma bronchiale treten häufig zusammen auf. Und da Husten in den frühen Morgenstunden für beide Erkrankungen typisch ist, lassen sie sich klinisch mitunter schwer unterscheiden. Bis zu 80 % aller Asthmapatienten haben einen GERD, allerdings nur wenige die charakteristischen Refluxzeichen. Eine GERD-Therapie macht bei Asthmapatienten ohne Refluxsymptome keinen Sinn. Hier gilt es, den richtigen Pfad einzuschlagen.
