Menschen aus Osteuropa, dem Nahen und Mittleren Osten und Afrika, die in Deutschland um eine Anerkennung als Flüchtling ersuchen, tragen ein höheres Tuberkulose-Risiko als die einheimische Bevölkerung. Je nach Herkunftsregion unterscheiden sich die Häufigkeiten von Lymphknoten- und Organtuberkulosen sowie die Wahrscheinlichkeit resistenter Erreger. Patienten mit multiresistenten Tuberkulosebakterien sollten aufgrund der Komplexität der Erkrankung nur in spezialisierten Zentren behandelt werden.
