Zusammenfassung
Bei der Therapie von Vorhofflimmern werden zwei Behandlungsstrategien unterschieden: Die Frequenzkontrolle, bei der die Kammerfrequenz im Rahmen des Vorhofflimmerns eingestellt und möglichst normalisiert werden soll, ohne dass eine Kardioversion oder Rezidivprophylaxe vorgenommen wird. Die andere Behandlungsstrategie ist die Rhythmuskontrolle, die Maßnahmen zusammenfasst, mit denen ein Sinusrhythmus hergestellt oder erhalten werden soll. Die Entscheidung, welche Strategie verfolgt wird, ist für jeden Patienten individuell und abhängig von der Wahrscheinlichkeit, einen Sinusrhythmus stabilisieren zu können.
