In den vergangenen Jahren haben bei der spinalen Muskelatropie (SMA) kausale Therapieansätze Eingang in die klinische Routine und in klinische Studien gefunden und sind dabei, den Verlauf der Erkrankung zu ändern. Trotzdem bleibt die symptomatische Therapie unverzichtbarer Teil der Behandlung.
