Eine der häufigsten fetalen Auffälligkeiten in der Detailsonografie im zweiten Trimester ist die fetale Ventrikulomegalie. Ihre Diagnose muss durch sorgfältige und systematische sonografische Untersuchung des Gehirns gesichert werden. Denn nur mit genügend Informationen können Eltern von betroffenen Kindern angemessen beraten werden.
