Das Ulcus cruris venosum ist zwar eine häufige chronische Wunde, es wird aber — im Gegensatz zum diabetischen Fußsyndrom und Dekubitus — von Patienten und Ärzten als weniger gefährlich wahrgenommen. Dies hat zur Folge, dass die Patienten bis zur Heilung oft einen langen Leidensweg durchlaufen müssen.
