Der Hypogonadismus, ein Mangel an Testosteron, führt zu charakteristischen klinischen Erscheinungen, die sich besonders deutlich bemerkbar machen, wenn dieser Mangel bereits vor der Pubertät manifest ist. Aber auch ein im späteren Leben auftretendes Defizit und eine Verschiebung des Verhältnisses von Androgenen zu Östrogenen induzieren typische klinische Bilder, die die Differenzierung der Ursachen nötig machen.
