Patienten mit dunklerem Hauttyp leiden oft mehr unter einer Vitiligo als Hellhäutige, weil bei ihnen die unpigmentierten Stellen besonders deutlich ins Auge fallen. Daher haben Wissenschaftler in einer multizentrische Studie ausschließlich Patienten vom Fitzpatrick-Hauttyp III bis VI eingeschlossen.
