Was zur Allergie gegen Tiere beiträgt und wie man atopische Familien mit Tierwunsch berät

Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund: Tiere sind in 90 Millionen europäischen Haushalten präsent, mit steigender Zahl. Die Relevanz einer Tierhaltung für das Auftreten beziehungsweise die Prävention von Allergien wird regelmäßig diskutiert. Aufgrund des komplexen Zusammenspiels diverser Faktoren sind die Schlussfolgerungen aus Kohortenstudien und Metaanalysen bezüglich der Bedeutung von Haustieren für das Auftreten von atopischen Erkrankungen uneinheitlich.

Ergebnisse: Unter Berücksichtigung der aktuell verfügbaren Evidenz auf höchster Ebene, Sk3, hat die AWMF-Leitliniengruppe 2022 eine Empfehlung bezüglich Tierhaltung und Allergieentwicklung abgegeben. Vergleichbare Konsensempfehlungen lieferte eine rezente internationale Studie 2023 zur Prävention der allergischen Rhinitis. Unter Verwendung dieser Stellungnahmen sowie einer 2022 veröffentlichen Metaanalyse von neun europäischen Geburtskohorten wird hier eine Hilfestellung bezüglich Tierhaltung für Familien mit erhöhtem Allergierisiko formuliert.

Schlussfolgerung: Familien mit erhöhtem Allergierisiko, das heißt mit mindestens einem Mitglied mit einer atopischen Erkrankung, sollten auf die Neuanschaffung einer Katze verzichten. Ein Hund kann bedenkenlos angeschafft werden, sofern kein Familienmitglied eine Sensibilisierung gegen Hunde entwickelt hat. Bezüglich anderer Tierarten außer Katzen und Hunden können keine Empfehlungen zur Allergieprävention gegeben werden.
