Identification of novel allergens in the North Sea shrimp

Background: Shrimp is a known cause of food allergy and anaphylaxis. Six allergens (17-45 kDa) were identified in our previously published work about the North Sea shrimp Crangon crangon. However, the IgE binding capacity of the single allergen components Cra c 1, Cra c 2, Cra c 4, Cra c 5, Cra c 6 and Cra c 8 is still incomplete in comparison to shrimp total protein.

Aim: To identify additional C. crangon allergens as a basis for a comprehensive component-resolved diagnosis (CRD) study.
