Derzeit ist eine Neufassung der Nationalen Versorgungsleitlinie beim Asthma bronchiale in Arbeit. Wesentliche Neuerungen werden v. a. hinsichtlich der Behandlung mit Kortikoiden erwartet. Aktuell geht es zunehmend darum, Kortikosteroide bei der Therapie des Asthma bronchiale einzusparen. Es gibt diverse Möglichkeiten hierzu — bis hin zu einem Paradigmenwechsel bei der inhalativen Steroidtherapie.
