Zusammenfassung

Die Verabreichung von Opioiden ist ein unverzichtbares Element der Schmerztherapie. Zu den potenziell gefährlichen Nebenwirkungen von Opioiden gehört die Abhängigkeit. Die Beachtung aktueller Leitlinien hilft, das Auftreten dieser Komplikation zu verhindern. Jeder Arzt, der Opioide verschreibt, sollte aber auch in der Lage sein, eine einmal eingetretene Suchtentwicklung frühzeitig zu erkennen und die spezifische Behandlung rasch einzuleiten.
