Die mimische Gesichtsmuskulatur wird vom VII. Hirnnerven (N. facialis) innerviert. Erlischt seine Funktion, können bedeutende funktionelle, ästhetische und psychosoziale Probleme resultieren. Für eine erfolgreiche Reanimation der Mimik ist es wichtig, die Ursache früh zu erkennen und die Prognose richtig einzuschätzen.
