Der Cholesterin-Resorptionshemmer Ezetimib kann, zusätzlich zu einem Statin gegeben, bei Hochrisiko-Patienten mit akutem Koronarsyndrom langfristig das Risiko für klinische Endpunkte geringfügig, aber statistisch signifikant reduzieren. Es ist der erste Nachweis eines klinischen Nutzens für einen Lipidsenker, der kein Statin ist.
