In Deutschland warten derzeit 11 000 Menschen auf eine Organtransplantation. Um diesen Engpass zu überbrücken, werden mittlerweile z. B. 30% der Nierentransplantationen als Lebendspende vorgenommen. Der Anteil der Leberlebendspenden stagniert dagegen seit mehreren Jahren. Der nachfolgende Beitrag beschreibt den Ablauf einer Leberlebendtransplantation, Schwierigkeiten, Risiken und den zukünftigen Stellenwert.
