Zusammenfassung
Alkohol wird von der Mehrheit der deutschen und europäischen Bevölkerung konsumiert. Unsere Gesellschaft verbindet generell positive Aspekte des Lebens, wie Geselligkeit, Feiern und Entspannung mit dem Verbrauch alkoholhaltiger Getränke. Die Grenzen zum schädlichen Gebrauch mit gesundheitlichen Folgen – unter anderem auf neurologischem Fachgebiet – sind fließend. Die Vermittlung der bei erhöhtem Alkoholkonsum regelmäßig sinnvollen Karenz ist oft eine Herausforderung. Dieser Beitrag fasst Charakteristika und Therapieoptionen der wichtigsten neurologischen Alkoholfolgeerkrankungen zusammen.
