Abstract
In the chemical process, a large amount of phosphorous wastewater will be produced, which will cause serious harm to the environment and affect the growth of animals and plants. The objective of this study is to effectively remove phosphorus-containing wastewater using municipal solid waste incinerated fly ash. According to the physical and chemical properties of municipal solid waste incinerated fly ash, the effects of solid–liquid ratio, reaction time and initial reaction temperature on phosphorus removal were analyzed. The results showed that the optimal reaction conditions for phosphorus removal were as follows: the solid-to-liquid ratio ranged from 12 to 14 g/L, the reaction time was 40 min, and the initial reaction temperature was 313 K. The final phosphorus concentration was 0.4391 mg/L and the phosphorus removal efficiency was 99.95%, which met the national emission standards (GB8978-1996 Integrated wastewater discharge standard). On the basis of experiments, the mechanism of phosphorus removal by municipal solid waste incinerated fly ash was analyzed through XRD, EDS, electron microscope and adsorption equilibrium theory. The results showed that the mechanism of phosphorus removal was mainly due to the chemical reaction between calcium and phosphorus and the multilayer adsorption process on the solid surface. This study provided a feasible method for the treatment of high-concentration phosphate-containing wastewater.
