Abstract

Biodegradable plastic ‘polyhydroxybutyrate-abbreviation removed’ synthesized by copious marine bacteria Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Nocardiopsis potens as a reserve food material sequel to unbalanced growth conditions like limitation of specific nutrients and fluctuations in osmotic balance and radiation. It is accumulated as microbial reserve material and derived extracellular by microbial cell wall breakage. Microbial plastic obtained was assessed by high-performance liquid chromatography and the compound was confirmed due to the appearance of chromatogram peak with a relevant retention time of 24.3 min in comparison with standard polyhydroxybutyrate. Structural confirmation through 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy shows the peaks corresponding to the different groups of hydrogen and carbon atoms residing in the polyhydroxy butyrate structure. Analysis reveals complete biodegradation potential of the product and 100% biocompatibility
