Holden Hyer

Dr. Holden Hyer is currently an R&D Associate Staff member in the Advanced Fuel Fabrication and Instrumentation Group in the Nuclear Energy and Fuel Cycle Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His current research includes functionalizing metallic components fabricated by Additive Manufacturing (AM) with embedded fiber-optic temperature and strain sensors. Additionally, he explores the qualification of high temperature stable, and corrosion resistant steels manufactured by AM under the Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy, Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Program. He received his Ph.D. and B.S. in materials science and engineering from the University of Central Florida and New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, respectively.
