Abstract

The aim of this paper was to propose various UWB filter designs using defected ground plane structures and compare their performances. Basic ultra-wideband band-pass filter is implemented with two transmission zeros located close to the pass band edges. To further improve the selectivity, defected ground planes are introduced via double-slit complementary split ring resonator (DS-CSRR) and circular slots in the ground plane. To obtain better selectivity and stop band attenuation, circular slots are introduced in the ground plane in the basic micro-strip/CPW structure. The DS-CSRR filter proposed consists of a transmission line of conductor strip and one band pass filter having split ring resonator, an inductive component and a capacitive component. The software used is Advanced Design System-Momentum. The physical structure using momentum option has been simulated and the equivalent circuits have also been obtained.
