Abstract

In educational research extracting information from the available academic data is always play prominent role. The main objective of present study is to develop a relationship model between mechanical engineering students core subject academic performance and mathematics courses academic performance. The relative data of 125 mechanical engineering students is collected from a university situated in Northern India to perform the present study. The partial least-square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) is used to examine the relationship of academic performance of mechanical engineering students. A measurement model is developed, and bootstrapping technique is used to test the significance of loadings and R-square values. The goodness-of-fit measures of PLS-SEM are derived. The Cronbach’s alpha value for all years is > 0.90, composite reliability and average variance extracted (AVE) > 0.99 while R-square > 0.9. These measures showed that proposed model is best fitted. It is revealed that mathematics performance significantly influences the academic performance of mechanical engineering students.
