Gallstone ileus is a rare and serious disease, due to the patients’ age, comorbidities and the frequently delayed diagnosis and treatment. Different diagnostic modalities may be used to aid the diagnosis, the most helpful being the CT scan. Surgery is still the mainstay of treatment but is associated with significant morbidity and mortality; hence, different strategies have been proposed. We present the case of a female patient with gallstone ileus and describe the applied management. Motivated by this case, we also conducted a review of the relevant literature.
