Abstract
Carabus lafossei Feisthamel (Coleoptera, Carabidae) is an endemic species and an endangered beetle of China. In this study, the novel 23 microsatellite markers were developed by method of Fast Isolation by AFLP of Sequence COntaining Repeats (FIASCO). The number of alleles ranged from 2 to 14 (mean 7.3) and the value of polymorphism information content (PIC) ranged from 0.364 to 0.844 (mean 0.691), suggesting a high level of polymorphism in the tested population. The expected and observed heterozygosities ranged from 0.488 to 0.875 (mean 0.745) and from 0.500 to 0.875 (mean 0.668), respectively. All loci were in Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. These markers will be effective to help the future studies of genetic diversity and population structure in C. lafossei and to develop the conservation and management strategies.
