Abstract

The clam Lutraria sieboldii is a commercially important bivalve species, which has been suffering from severe population decline due to overexploitation. To evaluate its genetic diversity and structures of this clam, fourteen polymorphic microsatellites were firstly isolated and characterized. The number of alleles ranged from 2 to 16 per locus. The observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.200 to 1.000 and from 0.183 to 0.934, respectively. These markers will be useful for the study of population structure and genetic diversity of L. sieboldii.
