Abstract
We isolated and characterized 39 expressed sequence tag (EST)-derived simple sequence repeats (SSR) for the blood clam Tegillarca granosa. The number of alleles of the 39 EST-SSR markers varied from 2 to 8, with a mean of 4.0 alleles per locus. The number of observed, expected heterozygosity and polymorphic information content per locus varied from 0.200 to 1.000, from 0.549 to 0.841 and from 0.253 to 0.849, respectively. No significant deviations from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium or linkage disequilibrium between pairs of loci were observed. These loci are firstly characterized and will be useful for investigation genetic population structure and molecule-assisted breeding for T. granosa.
