Abstract

The corrosion protection ability of electropolymerized poly(2-chloroaniline) (PClAni) coating on aluminum alloy 3105 (AA3105) has been investigated by using the galvanostatic method. The synthesized coatings were characterized by RAIR, SEM-EDX, SEM and AFM. The corrosion performances of PClAni coatings were investigated in 3.5 % NaCl solution by the potentiodynamic polarization technique and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The corrosion current decreases significantly from 2 μA cm−2 for uncoated AA3105 and 0.09 μA cm−2 for PClAni coated AA3105. The results of this study clearly ascertain that the PClAni has outstanding potential to protect the AA3105 against corrosion.
