Abstract
The application results of the method of digital image processing using smoke to visualize the gas dynamic picture of the flow by the image intensity parameter for such complex gas dynamic processes as a flooded laminar jet and a circular laminar jet in a transverse flow are presented. This method is based on obtaining image intensity matrices and their processing using receptor models. Its use makes it possible to determine with great certainty the position of any section (or a set of sections) of a gas flow with the assessment of its geometry and area with a given range of image intensity. It is shown that such an approach to the analysis of experimental data makes it possible to take a new look at the picture of gas flow mixing and to evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively the processes occurring in such jet flows. This technique is applicable to compare images obtained in different operating environments, and it allows determining the general patterns and differences in the flow of the gas.
