Abstract

The improved Sahu (ImSahu) semiempirical relationship is applied to study the extremely long \(\alpha\)-decay half-lives of the 68 nuclei with 62 \(\le {Z}\le 99.\) (Z is the charge number of a parent nucleus.) By comparing the accuracy of the half-lives calculated with the ImSahu relationship and those with the Royer, Densiov and UNIV formulas, it is found that the accuracies of the ImSahu relationship and Royer formula are higher than those of the Densiov and UNIV formulas. In addition, the \(\alpha\)-decay half-lives of some nuclei that are not yet experimentally available are predicted by the ImSahu relationship and Royer formula, which might be useful for searching for the nuclei with long \(\alpha\)-decay half-lives in future experiments.
