Abstract

Major trends in photodetectors design are the achievement of higher efficiencies and larger bandwidths. In this paper, the performance of zero-bias and biased pin waveguide photodetector is compared with respect to internal and external quantum efficiencies. Internal quantum efficiencies as high as 98 % are achieved.
