Inzwischen sind minimalinvasive ästhetische Eingriffe und Korrekturen mit Fillern auch in Deutschland in der „Mitte der Gesellschaft“ angekommen. Das zeigt sich zum einen an der steigenden Nachfrage nach Behandlungen, zum anderen an der Entwicklung immer neuer Präparate. Als Dermalfiller bezeichnet man zunächst alle Substanzen, die in oder unter die Haut injiziert werden, um Falten zu „füllen“ (engl. to fill). Seit über 100 Jahren sucht man nach der idealen Füllsubstanz.
