Bei operativen Eingriffen, bei welchen die Haut durchtrennt wird oder bei Traumata, welche die Haut schädigen, findet eine narbige Wundheilung statt. Neben normalen Narben kann es auch zur überschießenden Narbenbildung kommen, die funktionell einschränkend und psychisch belastend sein kann. Trotz zahlreicher Therapiemöglichkeiten ist die Behandlung solcher Narben schwierig und oft unbefriedigend.
