Abstract
Loss of volume and elasticity during the aging process or weight loss can lead to the formation of loose and hanging excessive skin on the buttocks. As a result, multiple problems can simultaneously occur: excess skin at the infragluteal folds, volume loss with contour defects or surrounding excess skin or fat at the outer thighs, the flanks, the back or the inner thighs. Depending on the constellation of findings, a resection of excess skin and tissue for tightening of the skin and/or an augmentation can be required for reconstruction of the body contour. Autoaugmentation is a helpful technique that uses autologous tissue. By selection of the appropriate techniques, the various problems can be addressed and an aesthetic buttock shape can be achieved.
