Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund
Abstract
Background
A plethora of individual factors need to be considered and integrated into the treatment concept when performing tightening procedures in aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery. The body mass index (BMI) as well as its dynamic course are very important in the planning, performance and follow-up in plastic surgery.
Objective
The aim of this article is the critical evaluation of the influence of fluctuations of the BMI on treatment in aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery.
Material and methods
The present article represents the opinion of the authors and should be considered as such.
Results
The calculation of three factors of the BMI in the patient history (BMI minimum, BMI maximum and current BMI) are relevant for all forms of treatment in aesthetic medicine and influence the choice of treatment method as well as the outcome.
Discussion
In addition to known factors, such as age, lifestyle, gender and the difficult to estimate influence of genetics, the history of the more or less overstretched superficial fascial system in particular is a decisive factor for a possible result.
