Abstract

Autologous fat transplantation has become established as an important component of the treatment spectrum of plastic surgery. Research results and technical refinements enable the plastic surgeon to specifically utilize the advantages of lipofilling. In the majority of cases auologous fat transplantation is used for volume correction and to compensate for contour deformities. Nowadays, lipofilling is not only implemented as a supplementary and replacement option but also as a versatile aid for tissue regeneration and treatment of a variety of complications. It has proven to be a procedure with low risk and minimal donor site morbidity.
