Shenghua Yin obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Central South University in 2003 and 2006, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2010. Subsequently, he completed his postdoctoral work at University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2012. Currently, he is a professor in the School of Civil and Resource Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing. He is the owner of the “National Natural Science Foundation for outstanding Young Scholars” and “National High Level Talent Special Support Program”. He is the leader of the “Innovation Team in Key Fields of the Ministry of Science and Technology” and “111 Project”. His current research interest is environment-friendly, high-efficient, and sustainable mining of metal mines, mainly includes solution mining of copper ores, rare earth, and sandstone-type uranium deposit, and backfilling mining.
Chongchong Qi graduated from The University of Western Australia in 2019 with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. After a visiting period at Inha University, he joined Central South University as a professor. His research interests include solid waste recycling, cemented paste backfill, environmental pollution assessment, mine closures, etc. He is the author or co-author of more than 50 publications and a member of the editorial boards of five SCI journals. He is currently on two well-reputed international committees, including ISSMGE and ASCE. He has been awarded as the World’s Top 2% Scientists in 2021 by Stanford University (Rank 11367 out of 190064 based on 2020 single year impact).
Erol Yilmaz was born in Rize, Turkey. He received the B.S. degree (Hons.) in mining engineering from the University of Istanbul, in 2000, the M.S. degree in mining engineering from Karadeniz Technical University, Trabzon, Turkey, in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree in environmental sciences from UQAT, Rouyn-Noranda, QC, Canada, with a focus on hydro-mechanical and geotechnical properties of cemented paste backfill. From July 2000 to July 2004, he was an expert with the Department of Mining Engineering, Karadeniz Technical University. In August 2004, he moved to Canada to work in an international project at the URSTM Lab of the University of Quebec at Abitibi-Temiscamingue UQAT. He was also a Postdoctoral Fellow at UQAT, focusing on physical and geochemical behavior of surface paste disposal at Agnico Eagle’s LaRonde Mine, Cadillac, QC. He has been working with Cayeli Copper-Zinc Mine, First Quantum Minerals Ltd., Rize, as a Paste Backfill and Batch Plant Engineer. Dr. Erol Yilmaz is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Recep Tayyip Erdogan University in Rize. He has more than 15 years of rich experience in industry, academia, and research by focusing on mine tailings, paste systems, cemented paste backfill, surface paste disposal, underground mine backfill, mine wastes management, environmental geomechanics, rock mechanics, mining engineering, and mineral processing. He authored or coauthored many scientific publications, such as books, reports, and journal and conference articles. He has been a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum and the Turkish Institute of Mining Engineers, since 2005 and 2000, respectively. He has been repeatedly invited as a Keynote Speaker or a Lecturer and regularly acts as a consultant and a reviewer for several scientific committees, peer-reviewed journals, funding agencies, and several international projects.
Shuai Cao obtained his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2012 and 2017, respectively. Subsequently, he completed his postdoctoral work at University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2019. He studied at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a visiting scholar from Sep 2019 to Apr 2020. Currently, he is an associate professor in the Department of Resources Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing. His current main research interests include deep mining engineering, rock support, and cemented tailings backfilling mechanics.
Qiusong Chen obtained his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Central South University. Subsequently, he completed his postdoctoral work at Sinosteel Scie-tech Development Co., Ltd. He is Hunan Huxiang Young Scholar, and leader of more than 10 reach projects. His current research interests include theory and technology about groundwater-friendly backfill using solid waste, carbon capture in mines, and efficient excavation of complex ore body
