Résumé
Les pathologies infectieuses sont plus fréquentes chez les sujets âgés. L’immunosénescence, le statut fonctionnel et la fragilité ont un rôle explicatif de ce sur-risque infectieux et influencent le pronostic au décours d’une infection. À l’inverse, une infection peut entraîner une altération du statut fonctionnel induisant au long cours un sur-risque infectieux. À partir des données de la littérature, nous explicitons le cercle vicieux qui relie fragilité et risque infectieux.
Abstract
Prevalence of infections is high in the elderly. Age-related changes in immunity, functional status and frailty might explain this prevalence. On the other hand, infections decrease the functional status that enhances the risk of infections. Through the literature data, we report this vicious circle that links frailty and infection.
